This writer has some tips which must surely be the basis for those who have achieved a
life-long ambition.
CRITERIA FOR SUCCESS
In order to succeed at anything worthwhile, whether it be as a writer, an actor or a
professional practitioner one needs to spend long hours studying, practising, perfecting
and above all concentrating on what is required. In other words without hard work you
will not succeed. The way you apply yourself to the task at hand influences the
attainment of your objective. Of course, many people can study something for years and
still not be successful. They do not have the drive and determination to succeed. I feel
that if you really want to achieve something and you persevere with time, energy and
diligence you will certainly triumph.
There are many ways of studying. Some people can just read over something that
interests them and absorb every word. Others have to read data many times to
assimilate what they are reading.
Most successful novelists spend months researching, planning, writing and changing
what they do write in order to reach their goal. It is not just a matter of sitting down at the
computer and typing while your thoughts just flow on to the paper. That is a myth. If I
had to give someone my advice on how to be successful I would tell them the following:
Be passionate about what you want to achieve. It must not be a passing fancy.
Be prepared to study hard, if necessary, even at the expense of other callings.
Plan carefully what you intend to do.
Practice makes perfect.
Do a task over and over again until you are happy with the result.
Expend your time and effort on making improvements.
Be happy with what you are doing.
Unless you have a genuine interest you will not achieve your target.
Never give up.
